Soccer is a team sport, taking place between two teams, made of 11 players each. At  the beginning of the 21st century it was played by more than 250 million players in more than 200 countries, which makes him the most popular sport in the world.

It is played using a spherical ball, on a rectangular field, covered in grass and with a gate on the two sides of the field. The purpose of the game is to score goals in the gate of the competition. Beside the goalkeeper, all the other players can not use their hands to handle the ball. The winner is the team that scored the most goals at the end of the game.

The origins of soccer are somewhere 2000 years ago. In 2004, FIFA (Federation Internationale de Football Association) – the forum which governs this sport at a global level recognized China as being the place of the beginnings of soccer. Around the year 200 BC, the Chinese where playing a similar sport, named Cuju. The rules had evolved, getting to the sport played nowadays.

In the spring of 2012, FIFA was informing that more than 240 million people regularly play soccer, in more than 200 countries around the world, its simple rules and extremely cheap equipment, undoubtedly played an important role in the growth of its popularity. In many world zones, soccer creates huge passions and plays a very important role in the life of its fans, local communities and even nations; its called often the most popular sport in the world.
